Lessons from the woman at the well

It is God’s will that we bring forth fruit and our fruit remain
We are encouraged to take inventory of ourselves so we can be a light in this gross darkness
 Hearts of compassion to see people born again.  God is not willing that any perish.

The Samaritan woman besought Him and testified of her conversion experience.
John 4:42 42They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."
 
Go into all the world
Mark 16:15 15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He gave his command to go and tarry in Jerusalem until they received power
Witness by the Spirit!
The gifts of the spirit are necessary to be witnesses

Jesus has dealings with the Samaritan woman
I must needs go through Samaria
Jews avoided Samaritans
They had an understanding that they were to worship in the mountains
Mede 3 pilgrimages a year
confused in the past as to their part in the kingdom
Half Jewish, half Galilean
Religious, cultural, bigotry

We are Abraham’s seed
Jesus said, if you were you would believe me.  Jesus exposed the religious Pharisees trying to discredit Him.
“You are of your father, the devil…a liar and the father of it”.

“You hear them not for you are not of God”!
The gave the worst insult: “are you not a Samaritan and have the devil?”
We will learn how to share with other religions.  We can’t be caught up, hold back or discriminate.

Look beyond culture, etc.  All Souls are God’s!
Jesus example- look beyond all else and see souls desiring to know God.

There is only one God and mediator between God and man.  No man comes to God but by Him.
People place humanity above the divinity of Jesus.
We have connection by the blood of Jesus.
Verse 13  whosoever drinks of this water.
 
THIRSTY –
Jesus said I bring you living water
(Isaiah 12)  with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation
People in the world are thirsty. (and hungry)
Ie: The Alpine airplane crash  in times of survival there are accounts of people eating one another
Religious doctrines, philosophies of man are not good food for the soul!
We must lead them to the bread of life!
(Matt 5:6) “They that do hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled”

We have to be ready,  with our feet shod with the gospel of peace
People need peace,  like the woman at the well,  she received living water from that well “springing up unto life”.  The only way to peace is to receive Jesus.
She realized she was a sinner as she was at the well in the middle of the day to avoid the ridicule and rejection and exposure of others.  She was despised and rejected because of her lifestyle.
(John 4:17)  Jesus asked for her husband and The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband”
People are loved by God, no matter what
Jesus knows we are like sheep having no shephard
 
The wages of sin is death
He wants to give her hope and peace a reason for living to come into the glorious kingdom of the Lord our God.

We must be looking beyond their faults and see their need for salvation
Love is necessary to be an effective witness.
Listen and address the need they have.
Trust the gifts of the spirit.! He will revel something not naturally known through a “word of knowledge’.
It is also a witnessing tool.
We need to have an ear to hear. Trust Holy Spirit to speak to us.
Word of wisdom and healing are necessary.
Hearing the voice of God is an eye opener for people to receive Jesus.
Verse 20  she began to share her limited religious knowledge.
Jesus shared with her : “believe me, God is looking for true worshippers.
4:22 Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews
We must have a strong relationship i\with God.  People will know, they can tell if you are sincere and strong in the lord.
Know the Word and the voice of God
Know what the spirit is saying.

Only the true worshippers can stand and advance the kingdom.
Make your calling and election sure
Some will attack, challenge our commitment to Christ.
There are strong winds of adversity.  Hold fast the foundation! Like the man who built his house on the rock!
Stand fast, be steadfast, unmoveable
Stand fast in the liberty where with God has made us free.
Be not entangle again with the yoke of bondage. h
Don’t become weary in well doing.
Saints don’t faint!
Find here
Having done all to stand, stand.
Not out of ritual or ceremony.  This is the type of saint necessary to win the lost.
There is a spirit of fear in the world today.  Men’s hearts are failing them for fear.
When you see these things, look up!  Your redemption draws near.
Without God there is no hope!  Let them know He is coming soon.
Get people prepared.

What does the Bible say?
When people begin talking about their experiences, etc.. respond with the word of God.
 (Heb 9:27)  It is appointed unto man to die.
Jesus revealed the truth of who He is! And who they really are.
4 things - *you are a sinner, *you cannot save yourself, *Jesus has provided for your salvation * *You can be saved today.

As long as you love one another.
This is another Jesus, another gospel!
Jude says, contend for the faith of the common salvation once delivered /the discipto us.

Important to Him as he was interested in pleasing the Father.
His hunger  was to please God and glorify Him, bringing souls to Him.
Verse 34  My heart is to do His will and finish His work.

We can’t look at nationality, cultural differences.  We must see people saved!
 
Lift up your eyes and look on the fields.  Don’t put it off!  Now is the time.
One sows, another reaps. Other men laboured.
 
(John 15:16)  He has chosen and ordained us to bring forth fruit.

He blessings of answered prayer and desires of our heart.
You may witness, but you don’t do all the work!  Set your affections on things above.
Put your needs aside and be mindful that people are coming to you. 
They are coming to you.  Be ready! 
(Isaiah 60:4)  Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side the forces of the gentiles come to you
Be ready!
Don’t be caught up satisfying your own personal desires!

(Matt 9:37-38)  37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
He saw them as sheep having no shepherd.  We have all gone astray.
A shepherd anoints the head.  Gives power to be witnesses. 
Have compassion to see souls saved!
Be  a doer and not a hearer only!
