The Person and Power of the Holy Ghost

  We are rejoicing today!  It is a time to know that your name is written in the kingdom of God!  To know that all is well between you and the Father is the greatest joy, the greatest level of peace to know that all is well with our heavenly Father.
Be encouraged, look not at the things that are seen, but walk by faith in God’s promises and what his word says.
Without faith it is impossible to please Him.  We must live by faith.
They that come to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Concerning the person and the power of the Holy spirit  power of god on the earth, representation of God in the earth.  The world cannot receive him, but they that believe should receive.
Important that we have an ear to hear and discern the voice of God.
Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Godhead
He dwells in the hearts of believers and the world does not know him. 
COME TO God and continually stay with him.
We will learn not only what it means to be baptized in the hs but what it means to be led, living and walking in the spirit.  Have this ability by the Spirit to do always those things that please the Lord.

Having an ear to hear and discern the voice of God
My sheep hear my voice and know me and they follow me.
In this hour it is important to have a true relationship with the Holy Spirit.
What it means to be baptized in the spirit or to live in the spirit.
** Jesus spent 40 days preparing his disciples for the works ahead of them.  Commanded them to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father.  Pentecost 50
**John 20:19   then came Jesus saying peace be unto you…
 
** He breathed on them and said receive the Holy Ghost – whose sins ye remit shall be remitted unto them.   Jesus’ high priestly ministry.  He ascended to heaven and applied his blood on the mercy seat, providing salvation for all. Not by the blood of bulls and goats, but by His blood.  God approved of the blood.   Whosoever shall believe on him shall be saved.
He appeared to them and showed his hands and feet – He is alive – peace be unto you. 
*for this purpose was the Son of man come, to destroy the works of the devil.  He gave instruction as to what was to follow.

As the father has sent me to do these things, I am sending you.
He sent them out two by two to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead.
Matthew `10  Go unto the lost sheep of Israel.  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepes and raise the dead.. the commission…in my name!   Not your, skills, connections.  Do the work of God by the spirit of God, in the name of Jesus!
 
Focus on the Holy Spirit.  Holy Spirit came Glorifying Jesus in the power of His name.
The commission: they were commissioned to go into all nations
**Matt 28:19  Go into all the world.  All nations teach to observe whatever you have heard from the Holy Spirit  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
 
**Mark 16:15,16   And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
**Acts:1  the works that Jesus began to do and to teach
Luke wrote Acts to Theophilus.  How Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. 
He wants us to Do the works He did.
Luke 10:19  Behold I give you power… By the same power that He had.  The church is the body of Christ, continuing the works Jesus began to do and to teach.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, you will do the works!

He is still working through the church.  If I go away the Holy Spirit will come
John 16:12, 13    the spirit will guide you into all truth.  He will speak what he hears.  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
 
 
With A deeper revelation of who He is the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” Note that Jesus is the head of His body, the church. As.  His power and authority will work through you.
He expected us to do these things.  Whatsoever you ask in my name that will I do that the father may be glorified.  These 3 are one.
John 14:12: “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, His body, we are to carry on the works that He did when He was on earth.
The Spirit glorifies Jesus.  Jesus came to glorify the Father.
Verse 22 – when he had said this, he breathed on them and said “receive ye the Holy Ghost,”
Genesis – when God breathed into Adam’s nostrils, he became a living soul.
Adam was a living soul but Jesus was a quickening spirit.  Jesus breathed on His disciples,  In this instance, “receive the new birth”?
Bears witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God.
When He breathed on the disciples and said whose sins ye remit…whose you retain but Jesus had not been glorified yet for power to speak the word of salvation in the new covenant.
Jesus had not been glorified when he told them to go and heal cleanse, raise the dead
Now salvation is added.  Whosoever sins ye remit sins…whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved

Why is Pentecost is necessary?
There is a 1st work and a 2nd work – rivers of living water
Wait for the baptism of the Holy spirit and the power of the Holy ‘ghost comes after salvation
The woman at the well.  I will give you a well of water springing up – a well of salvation.
John 7:37,38,39
Received the spirit as a well of water born of water and spirit for salvation
Another work – baptism subsequent to the initial experience
John 7:38 KJV: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7 They that believe should receive.  Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water
There is a difference between a well and a river of water
A well is limited, a river is greater manifestation

You can  do  more with a river than a well.
The Well of water springing up unto life denotes the salvation experience, the river of water denotes the filling of the Holy Spirit with power.
Well of salvation works in us. then Joh 7: refers to the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a river of life!  Saved and a subsequent work to the initial receiving of Holy Spirit of salvation.
There is a difference between baptized and filled
2 aspects of the new birth.
John 4, speaks of salvation of the well of water.
John 7:37-39 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)  They that believe SHOULD receive.
Some question if this is necessary.
Fuller authority, greater ability , do more with a river than with a well.
Jesus tells them to wait for this power to come upon them. 
*** Go and Tarry in Jerusalem.  After that the Holy Ghost is come you, you will receive power.  You have the well of water and are saved but you need the Holy Ghost.  Recognize the inward working and power of the Holy Spirit.  What a difference it makes in you.
rivers in the desert
  greater is the trial.  know how God  is working and the power of the Holy Ghost
Isaiah 43:18-19   18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Remember ye not the old things,  behold  I do a new thing
We cannot go back and redo things of the past.
This is the day the Lord has made
New revelations circumstances, different now.  An ear to hear how to flow with what God is doing now.

Not stuck in the familiar
Ears to hear
**Behold I will do a new thing.  A way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.  Isaiah 43:19
Remember Israel came through on dry ground when God opened up the Red Sea!
Don’t  limit God to the ways He did things before.

He is able to bring new life in the desert, bearing hopeless situations
To give drink to my people, my chosen!
There is a line of demarcation, a separation coming to show who is real, truly committed and truly in love with Jesus.  not denying the power of God necessary to obey God in this hour.  There is a pruning, a separation and God is revealing His remnant calling forth in this last day.

The spirit makes the difference.  A people who put their trust in Him!
Not going to be by our might or our power, but By His spirit.  Recognition and acknowledgment of the anointing makes the difference if we are to make a difference in this day.
John 20:21 - As the father has sent me, so send I you, (experienced the new birth)
Acts 19  importance of being filled with Holy spirit
***”Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?”

John  the Baptist baptism of repentance to believe on Jesus
Paul laid hands and they spoke with tongues
They didn’t realize that He was coming as a lamb, laying down his life for our sins
They hadn’t heard that Jesus had already come, risen and sent the Holy Spirit.  ‘what shall we do?
Peter said repent and believe on the Lord Jesus and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
 
They were baptized into the Lord Jesus. John Baptist preached repentance. The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Paul baptized them into the Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit places us into the body of Christ.
2) Paul laid hands on them and the Holy Ghost came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied
Evidence of speaking in tongues and prophesied.
1Cor 12:12 
After that…after 10 days
Holy Spirit came upon those seeking him, upon those that obeyed
Over 500 who were told to tarry, only 120 remained in the upper room when Holy Spirit came.   Many have received personal instructions from the Lord  concerning what they should do, but have not followed through with diligence and remained in Him.
They humbled themselves and were on one accord, of one mind.  Laid aside all selfish desires, position, titles. Cloven tongues of fire sat upon them.
 He gives more grace to the humble.  God moves where there is unity

When the day was fully come, they were on one accord
Unified – lose concern of the world. It’s about God getting all the glory.
They were in one accord, in one place when a sound from heaven was heard
** “How good it is when brethren dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1)
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

  It 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; For there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

 
He empowers us all if we honor and worship and give God glory
Cloven tongues as of fire appeared, they spoke as the Spirit gave utterance
They began to GO as Jesus had commanded
They went into the temple – there was power in the name of Jesus
The mention of that name, Jesus, causes the devil to flee
That name is the only name,  There is only one mediator between Go and man.  Only one name given unto men whereby we must be saved!  That name brings tension.
Jesus said, John 14:6  I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Eliminates all other paths
Salvation in none other
One and only mediator between God and Man!

Acts 3:___
We are being challenged!! The power of the Holy Dpirit is going to give us the ability to stand.
The righteous are as bold as a lion.
Speak the truth in love, with meekness of wisdom.
God is able to penetrate the foolishness and confusion in men’s minds.  To bring illumination, insight.    
The name of Jesus has power. When you call upon his name, He has a way to present himself.  He is able to reach them.
Saul of Tarsus, later referred to as Paul, asked Who are you, Lord’.
Paul had been out to destroy those who believed in the name.  He was sincere in his belief in Jewish religion.
Jesus has a way to get to those who desire to know the truth!  Mention the name of Jesus. Pray for the lost, mention the name of Jesus.  Let Holy Spirit do the work!
Beyond what you can say or do, He has a way!
Concerning the name:  Holy Spirit has come to glorify Jesus and the power of His Name!  
Acts 3:6  Then Peter said silver and gold have I none.. in the name of Jesus, rise up and walk!  They were filled with wonder.

He healed the lame man and took the opportunity to preach the gospel  “faith in that name” has made this man whole”
The name has not lost its power.  Everything that has a name must bow to the name of Jesus. Every knwee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
Revive the understanding of the name .  The power of His Name!  Ask anything in that name.
Continue to be restored in the Holy Spirit.
Continue to receive infillings of the Holy Spirit.
Peter and John
Acts 4:4  rulers and elders, high priests gathered, By what power or name have you done this?”
We will be challenged as to why we believe.
Persecution will come.   Know why we believe
Peter, being filled with the Holy Ghost.  “by Him does this man stand before you whole”  Acts 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
cVs 13When they saw the boldness…they marveled and took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus.

Our secret time with Jesus declared that name, lay hands, speak hope!  That name spoken will bring change.  What are you doing with the power
Luke 10:19  I give you power to tread serpents and scorpions
You have power.  2 kinds of power –
dunamus miracle working power
Excusia – legal authority, delegated from a higher authority whose will must be obeyed.
 
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Represent the kingdom of God. Speak in Christ’s stead   the right to exercise authority by His name and greater works than these.
